The 75 rooms and 1 suite here at The Victory Down overflow with lavish decor and furniture typical of that from the Victorian era. Each room has been tastefully restored with rich, dark colours alongside the beautiful wooden panelling. Stunning mirrors and large Persian rugs are also featured in various rooms to compliment the dark, polished wooden furniture.

Single Room

Price: £75 per night

Suitable for one person, our single rooms come feature a single bed with luxury mattress, ample storage for clothes, satellite TV, mini-bar amongst other facilities. An en-suite bathroom comes as standard with a WC, basin and a walk-in power shower. Complimentary refreshments and toiletries are provided.

Double Room

Price: £85 per night

Suitable for up to two people, our double rooms come feature a queen size double bed with luxury mattress, ample storage for clothes, satellite TV, mini-bar amongst other facilities. An en-suite bathroom comes as standard with a WC, basin and a combined bath & power shower. Complimentary refreshments and toiletries are provided.

The Victoria Suite

Price: £120 per night

The exclusive Victoria Suite is suitable for up to four people. Complete with a king size four poster bed in the main bedroom and two single beds in the guest room, this suite guarantees a level of comfort you can only dream of. The gorgeous bathroom is fitted with a walk-in power shower, large jacuzzi-style bath, wash basin and WC. Satellite television is available on the 42" TFT TV in the spacious lounge area with two luxurious sofas. As well as the complimentary refreshments and toiletries, a bottle of champagne resting perfectly in an ice bucket will be waiting on your arrival.

Local Area

Situated in Ryde, the Victory Down Hotel is in a superb location. Ryde is an easy down to reach from the mainland thanks to regular ferries arriving from Portsmouth or Southsea. The town pier was constructed in 1814 with the first ferry service starting in 1825, Ryde soon became an elegant Victorian town.

Today the main attraction at Ryde is the miles and miles of golden sand on i's beaches and shallow sea waters. When the tide goes out at Ryde it leaves a large, firm area of sand which is great for beach games! Other popular tourist attractions in Ryde include an amusement park, ten-pin bowling, a nightclub, swimming pool and ice rink. There is also a marina as well as beautiful gardens to walk through, meaning there really is something for everyone in this seaside resort!

Hotel History

The Victory Down Hotel was originally built in 1828 as a holiday home for the queen of the time - Queen Victoria. She visited the Isle of Wight frequently and enjoyed spending time on the large, golden sands of Ryde beach, hence the waterfront location of The Victory Down. From 1973 the building remained empty until it was sold in 1998. By this time the condition of the building had deteriorated drastically, so we invested £8million in restoring it to it's former beauty.

The Victory Down is now tastefully decorated throughout to match the rich colours and lavish furnishings typical of the Victorian era. Rich reds colours are complimented by beautiful wooden panelling throughout the building. The typical Victorian furniture is dark and polished, with pictures hung throughout the corridors and communal areas. There are numerous large mirrors in stunning wooden frames and beautiful, original patterned carpets.

Since opening as a hotel towards the end of 1999, The Victory Down has had many famous and important guests come to stay including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Princess Anne and Sir Richard Branson.
