We are proud to offer a large heated indoor pool which is available free of charge throughout the year to all guests staying with us. Single Room

Price: £65 per night

Suitable for one person, our single rooms come feature a single bed with luxury mattress, ample storage for clothes, satellite TV, mini-bar amongst other facilities. An en-suite bathroom comes as standard with a WC, basin and a walk-in power shower. Complimentary refreshments and toiletries are provided.

Double Room

Price: £75 per night

Suitable for up to two people, our double rooms come feature a queen size double bed with luxury mattress, ample storage for clothes, satellite TV, mini-bar amongst other facilities. An en-suite bathroom comes as standard with a WC, basin and a combined bath & power shower. Complimentary refreshments and toiletries are provided.

The Solent Suite

Price: £110 per night

The exclusive Solent Suite is suitable for up to four people. Complete with a king size four poster bed in the main bedroom and two single beds in the guest room, this suite guarantees a level of comfort you can only dream of. The gorgeous bathroom is fitted with a walk-in power shower, large jacuzzi-style bath, wash basin and WC. Satellite television is available on the 42" TFT TV in the spacious lounge area with two luxurious sofas. As well as the complimentary refreshments and toiletries, a bottle of champagne resting perfectly in an ice bucket will be waiting on your arrival.

Local Area

The Pile Down Hotel can be found in the town of Cowes which is situated at the top of the island on the western bank of the esturay of the River Medina. The smaller town of East Cowes can be found on the eastern bank of the river, the town towns are linked via a chain ferry. Cowes is well known across the world for holding some prestigious sailing events, including Cowes Week which is held at the beginning of August each year.

The two towns grew from what was originally a small huddle of fishermen's shacks around the harbour. Two costal forts were built on either side of the harbour mouth by Henry VIII. There is a old fashioned tradition of fine ship building that dates from the era of Elizabeth I.

The narrow high street has recently pedestrianised and offers a superb range of shops, including a large number catering for the yachting community. There is also a good variety of gift shops, cafe's, clothing shops and friendly pubs. Over the river in East Cowes you will find the spectacular Osborne House, the former seaside home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert which is open for visitors throughout the year.

Hotel History

The Pile Down Hotel was built shortly after the end of World War 1 in 1920 overlooking Cowes Harbour as a hotel. After suffering damage during the Second World War, the hotel was closed and remained empty until the late 1980's where it underwent a multi-million pound restoration project to restore it to it's original state.

Since then, the hotel has had many facelifts and restoration work carried out, the most recent being in 2005 where the whole hotel closed for re-decoration and re-furnishing. We wanted to give the hotel the "Art Deco" look and feel that was popular in the 1920's when the hotel was built. You can now find vivid, stark colours that were originally used to provide a fresh, new look to life after the war. Geometric and abstract style flows through the hotel, with stunning attention to detail.
