Situated in Newport, at the centre of the island, The Fairly Down has earned it's 3 star rating for fantastic family friendly facilities. Built in the late 1700's this stunning building has been fully restored with decor and furniture typical of that in the Georgian Era.

Our children friendly restaurant has recently been awarded 1 Michelin star and serves a wide range of breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes to suit everyone. Children can be left in our on site Creche will the parents can take a break to explore local attractions, knowing there little one's are in good hands. A babysitting service is also available in the evenings giving you a chance to enjoy a drink in our fully licensed bar.

Each bedroom comes complete with a flat screen television with access to all major satellite channels. All rooms are en-suite with regularly cleaned bathrooms featuring luxurious walk-in power showers and complimentary toiletries. Free WiFi access is available throughout the hotel.

The 63 rooms here at The Fairly Down overflow with light coloured decor and furniture typical of that from the Georgian era. Each room has been tastefully restored with light, yet elegant colours alongside the beautiful elaborate plasterwork. The pictures hung above fireplaces in formal groupings and ornaments arranged perfectly in pairs adds to the authentic Georgian feel.

Single Room

Price: £55 per night

Suitable for one person, our single rooms come feature a single bed with luxury mattress, ample storage for clothes, satellite TV, mini-bar amongst other facilities. An en-suite bathroom comes as standard with a WC, basin and a walk-in power shower. Complimentary refreshments and toiletries are provided.

Double Room

Price: £65 per night

Suitable for up to two people, our double rooms come feature a queen size double bed with luxury mattress, ample storage for clothes, satellite TV, mini-bar amongst other facilities. Family Room

Local Area

The town of Newport can be found the centre of the island, and is the main town and shopping centre. Good roads and a regular bus service, make it a very accessible town, enabling you to get anywhere on the island with ease. There are plenty of major chain stores as well as many local shops offering a variety of products for you to enjoy.

As well as the superb shopping facilities in Newport, there are also other worthwhile attractions nearby including two elegant squares and some superb architecture. The tiny Apollo Theatre has recently been restored as well as the Quay Arts Centre. Newport harbour will keep the nautical visitors busy with a variety of local pubs and restaurants, and the Classic Boat Museum.

There are plenty of pubs and nightclubs to keep the younger adults entertained in the evenings as well as a large multi-screen cinema and fast food diners.

Hotel History

The Fairly Down Hotel was originally built in 1783 as a secondary home for the King George III. The building remained in use by the Royal Family for a little over 200 years until 1985 when it was turned into a Hotel. Throughout the years the condition of the building worsened, so in 2003 it received a £6million restoration. Everything has been tastefully restored to the decor and furnishings of from the Georgian Era when it was constructed.

The Fairly Down is now tastefully decorated throughout to match the light, yet elegant colours and rich mahogany furnishings typical of the Georgian era. Light, pale colours were often complimented by more elegant, bold colours to highlight different features in the rooms. Pictures can be found hanging in strict formal groupings above fireplaces, with ornaments placed in matching pairs to create an uncluttered, symmetrical look within a room. Elaborate plasterwork can be found throughout the hotel alongside stunning pillared entrances.
